GCU, better known as Grand Canyon University, is among the leading schools in the state of Arizona. This school is very light on sports teams, in fact, they don’t have any sports teams. So, needless to say, the school is setup completely around academics which is an attractive idea for students looking to receive a great education at an affordable price. The reason we say affordable price is because most other schools that do have athletic departments and sports teams have to increase the tuition to support the facilities needed to run such programs.
GCU has been hitting their marketing efforts hard with lots of T.V. commercials that be sure to mention that if you come to this school, you’re going to earn a top education that will look good to your prospective employers. The schools attendance has grown every year so their advertising efforts are certainly starting to pay off. Since the school is located near the Grand Canyon, it makes it an attractive location for other students living in Colorado and New Mexico. Their out of state tuition are starting to increase and surprisingly they don’t charge an arm and a leg like some other schools do for attendees coming from out of state.
It will be interesting to see how GCU will handle their pricing with the cost of education on the rise. Right now they are considered to be extremely affordable for a 4-year University and with student debt on the rise, they should be able to keep bringing people through the door without any problems. One thing to take note of is that there are no sororities or fraternities at this school either so if you’re looking for the infamous “Greek Life” that comes along with college, you’re going to want to consider a different school. Just a warning, Greek life can be considerably expensive so if you’re scraping the money together for the cost of your schooling, you should definitely calculate a few extra thousand dollars every semester to be a part of a fraternity or sorority.
We recently took a tour around the campus and all of the buildings are very nice and all of the technology and computer labs are all state-of-the-art systems. This campus has a nice corridor located centrally that all students can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner at. There are also plenty of relaxation lounges that you can plug in your lap top, connect to wi-fi, and knock out some homework in between classes.
